Casa Del Carmen Green Light Pantry

Casa Del Carmen Green Light Pantry is a ministry of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia that has served North Philadelphia's Latino community since 1954. The pantry provides families in need with highly nutritious foods and nutrition education, offering only low-sodium, low-sugar items, lean proteins, whole grains, low-fat dairy, and fresh produce ranked according to nutritional value and USDA dietary guidelines. The program was developed by the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger to address the fact that nearly 70 percent of food pantry clients have diet-related chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol.
