Playstreet 1200 E. Durham St. (Summer Meal Site)

Playstreet is a Philadelphia Parks & Recreation program that provides free summer meals and recreational activities to youth ages 18 and under at neighborhood locations throughout the city. The program, which has operated for more than six decades, closes residential blocks to traffic during the summer months to create safe outdoor spaces where children can participate in organized games, use play equipment, and receive nutritious meals. Operating as a volunteer-led initiative powered by community residents known as Playstreet supervisors, the program serves hundreds of thousands of children annually with free, USDA-approved meals.
