Vermillion Food Pantry

The Vermillion Food Pantry is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1984 that serves Clay County, South Dakota by providing supplemental food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Operating as a client-choice pantry in a grocery store setting, the organization allows guests to select foods that meet their specific health and dietary needs, offering approximately one week of supplies monthly to eligible residents. The pantry has grown significantly since its humble beginnings at Trinity Lutheran Church with just two volunteers and 34 guests, now serving over 8,000 people annually and providing additional support through community programs including meal services and assistance to students in the Vermillion School District.
