Ymca Five Star Food Market for Active Duty Service Members and Veterans

The YMCA Five Star Food Market is a nonprofit food pantry operated by the Armed Services YMCA in Harker Heights that serves active duty service members, veterans, and their families. The market allows eligible military families and veterans to select fresh produce, pantry staples, and other groceries free of charge, transitioning from a previous model of pre-bagged monthly distributions to a full shopping experience. Launched in October 2022 at the Harker Heights Wellness Center, the program has distributed thousands of pounds of food monthly to support military families experiencing food insecurity in the Fort Hood area.
