Colonial Heights Food Pantry

Founded in 2006 by local concerned citizens, area businesses, and pantry founder Ruth Chappell, Colonial Heights Food Pantry is a nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating hunger in Colonial Heights and surrounding areas. The organization has expanded significantly from its initial 148 square foot trailer to a 5,400 square foot building, serving over 430 families daily with grocery-type products to supplement nutritional needs for those financially unable to purchase household staples and food. As a volunteer-led and community-supported operation, the pantry partners with local businesses, the Central Virginia Foodbank, and volunteers who collect surplus food from area grocery stores to fulfill its mission of ending hunger and building a stronger community.
