Bellingham Food Bank
About
Founded in 1972 as Alternatives to Hunger, Bellingham Food Bank is Whatcom County's largest hunger relief organization and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to reducing hunger in the region. The food bank provides free groceries in a dignified setting to approximately one in five Whatcom County households annually, while also serving as a distribution center that redistributes over three million pounds of food each year to smaller food banks and meal programs throughout Whatcom and Island Counties. Beyond direct food assistance, Bellingham Food Bank is committed to food justice as social justice, working to disrupt racism and its structural connection to hunger while building partnerships with community organizations and local growers.
