YMCA Community Food Forest

The YMCA Community Food Forest is a 10,000-square-foot sustainable garden established in March 2016 by the La Crosse Area Family YMCA, located at the YMCA on West Avenue and Main Street in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The self-sustaining forest produces organic foods free of pesticides and provides access to healthy foods for community members in need while offering educational classes on food production and preparation through programs like Wednesday Work Nights. The initiative serves as a replicable urban model designed to address food insecurity and demonstrate sustainable gardening practices to the community.
