Rooted & Rising | Washington Park

Founded in 1962, Rooted & Rising – Washington Park is a nonprofit community organization located on Milwaukee’s West Side dedicated to helping individuals and families meet their basic needs, establish stable foundations, and pursue their dreams. The organization, formerly known as United Methodist Children’s Services (UMCS), operates 72 units of affordable housing, a state-licensed childcare center, an emergency food pantry, and community engagement programs including the annual Washington Park Back to School Pop-Up and Resource Fair. Through its holistic approach to social services and community development, Rooted & Rising addresses housing instability, food insecurity, and health disparities while fostering neighborhood stability and hope in the Washington Park area.
