Operation Bootstrap, established in 1969, is an all-volunteer nonprofit social service agency located in Stevens Point that serves as the primary food bank for Portage County. The organization provides emergency assistance to families and individuals in crisis situations, including nutritious food, shelter, utilities, rent assistance, transportation, emergency medications, and clothing through referrals from social service agencies, churches, schools, and other community organizations. Over 500 people daily benefit from Operation Bootstrap’s services, with more than 600 volunteers donating their time and all contributions directed toward serving the community’s most vulnerable residents.
