Open Door

The Open Door of Marathon County Inc. is a nonprofit organization located at 319 North 4th Street in downtown Wausau that provides charitable and educational services to individuals recently released from incarceration. Founded nearly a decade ago, the organization offers a range of support including free clothing, hygiene products, mail services, job search assistance, and help accessing government-issued ID and benefits enrollment. The Open Door has been instrumental in addressing homelessness in the Wausau community and has served over 1,000 people annually with support from local partners like Catholic Charities and American Rescue Plan Act funding.
